Therefore, in an effort towards improving tourism and increasing favorability, the Iranian Cabinet led by Zarghami Ezzatollah Zarghami, has alone decided to do away with visas for Indian citizens. The recent decision only reiterates Iran’s commitment in order to draw multicultural tourists from all over.
Minister Zarghami speaking at a media briefing after the cabinet meeting stressed on a far-reaching nature of the same. In this regard, he pointed out how such steps could undermine anti-Iranian campaigns and set conditions that would make visitors feel at home.
Such a move has recently been done in countries like Malaysian, Sri Lankan and Vietnamese all of which removed Visa requirements for Indians. There are in all 33 countries which come under this new visa-waiver program. This is a clear indication that Iran has committed itself towards expanding the growth of tourism.

The countries included in this program include Russia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Mauritius and Seychelles, Japan, Bosnia, Tanzania, Vietnam among other countries. Including India, with an ever-increasing outbound tourism sector, supports Iran’s plan for diversification of tourism.
Iran had once operated visa waiver systems in various nations including Turkey, Azerbaijan, Oman, China, Armenia, Lebanon and Syrian. Iran’s commitment to ease traveling and enhancing global intercultural relations is reflected in this recent expansion move.
More recent statistics prove that Iran’s efforts aimed at enhancing its appeal for tourists are paying off. The first eight months of this Iranian year witnessed an enormous jump in foreign arrivals at 4.4 millions (it reflects an increase of over 48 percent relative to the corresponding timeframe last year).
Iran has adopted unique approach by lifting the visa regulations unilaterally, while increasing its visa waiver programs to attract foreign tourist. The move strengthens the tourism sector as well assists in overcoming cultural stereotypes and attracting tourists into the country.
